About

Welcome to Supergreen 2026

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is our great pleasure to invite you to participate in Supergreen 2026, the [15th] International Conference on Supercritical Fluids, organized by the Asian Society of Supercritical Fluids.

The aim of this conference is to foster active interaction and the exchange of ideas among researchers, engineers, and practitioners working in the field of supercritical fluids worldwide. The scientific program will cover all aspects of supercritical fluid science and technology, including physicochemical properties, separation and reaction processes, materials processing, energy and environmental applications, recycling, pharmaceuticals, medicine, food, geoscience, life sciences, and industrial-scale technologies.

A special session entitled “History of Supercritical Fluid Science and Technology in Asian Countries” will also be featured. The conference will include plenary and keynote lectures, invited talks, oral and poster presentations, and a Best Poster Award will be presented to outstanding contributions.

We sincerely appreciate your participation and contribution to Supergreen 2026. We hope you will enjoy the stimulating scientific discussions and the warm hospitality of Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan.

History of Supergreen and the Asian Society of Supercritical Fluids

The Supergreen conference series was initiated by Professor Chien M. Wai of the University of Idaho, USA. The inaugural conference was held in Suwon, Korea, in 2002, focusing on supercritical fluid technologies for energy and environmental applications, followed by the second conference in Nagoya, Japan, in 2003.

In parallel, Professors Tadafumi Adschiri (Tohoku University, Japan), Buxing Han (Chinese Academy of Sciences, China), Motonobu Goto (Nagoya University, Japan), and Youn Woo Lee (Seoul National University, Korea) established the Asian Society of Supercritical Fluids (ASSF), which has since served as the principal organizer of Supergreen conferences. The subsequent meetings were held Tianjin (China, 2004), Taipei (Taiwan, 2005), Seoul (Korea, 2007), Sendai (Japan, 2009), Beijing (China, 2011), Kaohsiung (Taiwan, 2013), Seoul (Korea, 2015), Nagoya (Japan, 2017), Xi’an (China, 2019), Tainan (Taiwan, 2022), Yeosu (Korea, 2024), and now Hokkaido (Japan, 2026).

Over the years, Supergreen has become not only a premier platform for presenting the latest advances in supercritical fluid science and technology from Asia, but also a vibrant venue for cultural and academic exchange among students and young researchers. While pioneering work in supercritical fluids began mainly in Europe and the United States, Asia has emerged as a driving force in the field. Innovative technologies such as green chemistry using supercritical fluids, supercritical hydrothermal synthesis of nanomaterials, and supercritical fluid-based recycling processes have been disseminated through Supergreen. Above all, Asian researchers have taken the global lead in the industrialization of supercritical fluid technologies.

The Supergreen 2026 conference will continue this tradition by reflecting on the history, achievements, and future directions of supercritical fluid research and development all over the world.
